It’s easy to say Toffoli could’ve gotten more or to state that he had more value, but the market is the market. We can dream up 100 different scenarios but when guys are available the offers are what they are. If Toffoli could’ve gotten a 1st or two 2nds, someone would’ve offered a 1st or two 2nds.
This wasn’t some guy who was a surprise trade. Everybody knew he was available, and you can pretty much guarantee more offers were out there. There’s no reason to believe the Flames didn’t take the best one, and it’s a hell of a lot better than losing him for nothing or re-signing him long term, right? So what’s the issue?
