Watching his highlights, he’s got good wheels and a decent shot. Had a knack for scoring off the rush, which is something Calgary lacks. Looking at his stats, his production at 5v5 is basically on par with Toffoli the past three seasons. If he can capitalize on the opportunity to play on a PP unit, this has potential to be a solid deal.
Add in the cap savings, six years younger than Toffoli and hopefully a guy that can stick around for a while and there’s plenty to like here. Also telling are the posts from Jersey fans on Twitter sad to see him go and asking Flame fans to take good care of him. That’s always a good sign.
