My post specifically said July 1st.
And my point is most offseason transactions happen between the end of the season and Free Agency day / the day after.
2021 - July 23 was the draft, July 28 was free agency.
Vanecek, Vladar, Kuemper, Zadorov, Johnson, Schmidt, Fleury, Reinhart, Voracek/Atkinson, Bean, Seth Jones, OEK/Garland, Buchnevich, Ristolainen, Gostisbehere etc all happened between the 23rd and 29th.
2019 - June 21 was the draft, July 1 was free agency.
Trouba, Braun, JT Miller, Subban, Haula, Burakovsky, Miller, Kessel, Kadri, Vesey, Ceci all happened between the 21st and July 1st. Lucic was the only one of your examples that happened later than that.
And saying UFA day is a year away for these guys is irrelevant to the argument. The argument is when most business and the biggest trades happen in the NHL and that's between the end of season and first couple days of free agency, or the weeks leading up to the trade deadline.
If these players are still Flames by July 3rd then that likely means they're doing what they said they didn't want to do and are holding most into the season, and hopefully can find a better trade for them at the deadline.
