I don’t think Conroy will have to wait for the last moment. GM’s around the league won’t only be negotiating with the Flsmes, they’ll be bidding against one another. The Flames should be in the drivers seat here. Conry may choose to wait as you put it, but if I were in his shoes I would be saying ‘best offer today by X, otherwise we start trimming the field’.
I think today is the day we start seeing some movement across the league. Teams may want to acquire assets in advance of the draft so they can have the option to flip those assets. Waiting until the very last moment can be limiting in certain respects.

I agree that he shouldn't have to wait until the last possible moment, we have a lot of assets that teams would covet but the closer you get to the draft the tighter these teams are probably holding onto their 1st rounders.
I suppose there's also real life to consider, as in these guys are all presumably traveling to Nashville and getting setup today for the draft tomorrow. Maybe the afternoon/evening tonight is filled with trade activity.
Would also be nice if PLD and Hayes can get traded asap so that all eyes are on the Flames UFA's. If Detroit ends up acquiring Debrincat without using their 17th overall I still believe that would be a great landing spot for Lindholm.
