Cameron is obviously good at film making but he's a legit engineer. Remember he applies his engineering skills to make all manner of things such as ROVs, cameras and other tech. He's also a good artist especially the sketches he did for The Abyss they are amazing.

Avatar 2 was damn good I enjoyed it way more than I thought I would. Yea I know we all wish he would be doing that other franchise but not going to happen.
So sad Cameron didn't somehow get involved and put a stop to this hack of a sub.
