I can't remember which thread this was proposed and this may not be the exact proposal, but it was something to this effect:
Lindholm + Hanifin + Markstrom for Barkov + Bobrovsky
What if we make it almost a one-stop shop for everyone?
Lindholm + Hanifin + Markstrom + Toffoli for Barkov + Duclair + Bobrovsky
Why would FLA do this?
1. Downgrade Barkov to Lindholm BUT he'll be cheaper and has chemistry to Tkachuk
2. Upgrade D (not many L sided D on their current roster)
3. Upgrade R wing going to Toffoli (albeit a bit older)
4. Despite Bob's run, sheds a pretty ugly salary and gets potentially similar quality in Markstrom but 3.5mil less (same term remaining)
5. If I'm doing it right, end up gaining cap space with this deal to further bolster - they also keep futures/picks given they're so lean already and truthfully, only sacrifice Barkov (big loss of course)
Why would Flames do this?
1. True number 1 centre (this is the biggest reason really)
2. Gamble on having a retooled FLA 1st line with chemistry (Huby - Barkov - Duclair)
3. Offload those that don't want to be here
Next moves:
1. Trade Vladar - maybe recoup a 2nd somewhere? Shed cap
2. Bring up Wolf - 1A/1B with Bob
3. Trade Backlund (ideally, would keep if we're trading Lindholm but we'll see...)
