I think Roughneck had the right idea by mentioning Henry Moseley.
I'd say someone like Franz Kafka who was very influential for future generations but died almost unknown and before much of his work had been published.

I was hoping for a more names outside of Hollywood or music in general as I don't truly believe those people change the world aside from popularity. But I kept it open to that. Primarily I was hoping there would be some explanation of why they were destined for greatness so that I could look them up and read some bedtime material. Even Nichola Tesla or something like that.
