Life isn't long enough to spend billions of dollars. You literally have to give it away.

And do you know how you become a billionaire? By exploiting human labour down a long chain of people that have less than you. Same way to become a millionaire, to be honest, just millionaires are more common and their exploitation happens at a smaller scale.

As for personal tragedies? Yeah, I should care more about the hardships, illnesses, accidents and deaths of people close to me. I don't have the capacity to care about these guys who were super stupid and got themselves into a super stupid situation.

I guarantee you there are dozens or hundreds of people who could have afforded to take this sub ride, were interested in seeing the titanic, and then looked at the sub, the company and its operations, and noped the #### out of doing it. It's not like these guys were duped into this. They made a super dumb decision and now they're dead. I don't know them. I don't know anybody else who knows them. I know there are far sadder things happening all over the world this very second (Ukraine?). You're being absolutely ridiculous to be clutching your pearls at our jokes about this meh of a tragedy.
I'm not disagreeing that this was a stupid and ill informed decision on their part. Many including myself would question why anybody would go on a thrill seeker adventure on a non-certified device. They were well aware of the risks as was evident by them signing waivers that prevented them from suing.

However, my point is that people can still wish for a non tragic ending and hope to have them saved. Money doesn't erase the fact that families will still grieve. I get the optics that they chose a path of stupidity but I still would like to see this turn out in a positive manner.

Once again not arguing with you that this was an awful idea from the get-go.
