Honestly, some of you come across like jilted lovers, just wanting to get rid of him out of spite.
And if the Flames want to rebuild, having Huberdeau on the team does not deter that in any way - again, you still have to ice a team. In fact, if you ARE on the rebuild train, the best scenario for a rebuild is to wait and see if he rebounds, because if he does, you can trade him for a lot more in a few years than you can now.
There are no good reasons to dump him for pennies on the dollar right now (just spiteful ones)

It’s not nearly as illogical as you’re making it out to be.
A team that looks poised for some significant roster turnover, potentially falling back out of the playoff contention window, makes less sense to have someone like Huberdeau on the books.
Even if he bounces back to a PPG player, the contract is veryyy difficult to move in a cap world.
