Honestly, some of you come across like jilted lovers, just wanting to get rid of him out of spite.
And if the Flames want to rebuild, having Huberdeau on the team does not deter that in any way - again, you still have to ice a team. In fact, if you ARE on the rebuild train, the best scenario for a rebuild is to wait and see if he rebounds, because if he does, you can trade him for a lot more in a few years than you can now.
There are no good reasons to dump him for pennies on the dollar right now (just spiteful ones)

Nah, I think you are hung up on the sunk cost of the trade that brought Huberdeau here. I think it totally made sense for them to go for it this past season and there was no way they were going to do it with Huberdeau and Weegar sitting there unextended. It didn't work out and now the Flames are at a way different crossroads than last offseason and if they have the option to trade Huberdeau then it might make sense even if it is 'pennies on the dollar'.
Huberdeau being on the team is basically the worst case for a rebuild. If he bounces back in a big enough way to get good value then the Flames are closer to the middle of the pack picks rather than high picks and if he continues to perform poorly then they are stuck with a huge chunk of cap that can be utilized better.
