The thoughts that we shouldn't pay Lindholm a big contract to extend because of his age at the end of the contract makes no sense. Yet some have no problem paying Huberdeau 10.5 and he'll be the same age as Lindy when his contract ends. Lindholm is a known, Huberdeau is a gamble.

There's never a guarantee. But also, Huberdeau has had one bad year in a new system that apparently wasn't even taking his ideas into account. Every other year since 18-19 he's been PPG (with a monster year added in). Lindy also dropped from 42 goals to 22, and has been PPG one time. I'd say there's at least equal risk with him.
