Even if if the course layout was the greatest in major history (and it certainly wasn't that) this would still be one of the worst majors ever because actual golf fans were basically barred from going. I get that this is the most posh, exclusive country club in America, but that sentence is exactly why it should never have been considered in the first place. Like I said if they want to have a major in LA then play Riviera, but this was a poor choice from the start and turned out to be even worse in practice.

I’m not sure what you mean by barred from going? My son and I were considering heading out to LA a week ago to see a couple of rounds. A week before the tournament there were GA tickets available as well as tickets for the hospitality tent setup. I don’t remember the exact prices but they were less than what I was expecting for a US Open. Certainly far less than the Masters. I don’t hear that complaint for that tournament.
The VIP hospitality tickets might have been $300. I think maybe GA was $125 IIRC.
