I enjoyed the flash. Probably the best of the DCEU movies. I went in expecting a terrible disaster though so that always helps.
Spoiler!
I thought they could have leaned into the time travel stuff more. Like Old Barry Allen should have been interfering more in the events of the timelines to make sure it got to the point they got to at the end. He could have assisted in New Barry getting his powers or in old Barry getting the powers back. Just showing up as essentially a ghost keeping the timeline on the rails.
I also think they should have had the main Barry be the one to kill his mother. Essentially when he goes back to fix things he follows back to the house sees no one go in, sees his dad coming home realizes that the whole time travel loop is self causal and has to kill his own Mother.
I’m not sure about reverse causality time travel. I think the basis would have to be that the universe is self correcting to avoid paradoxes but I always prefer a why to why a universe is the way it is. (Like the Star Trek mirror verse was Kirk convincing Evil Spock that peace could work causing disruptions by the time DS9 goes to the mirror verse). The subtle causality in things makes it more satisfying. So thinks like moving the soup can to the top shelf makes his dad free is great but that turning Affleck into Cloony is kinda arbitrary and less satisfying.
But despite all that I like time travel movies and complaining about how time travel works in time travel movies is part of the enjoyment of time travel movies. So I like the idea of reverse causality but not the application.
