The margin for error (and luck) is just so small - goalies’ results can just swing so much. The difference between a 916 goalie and an 883 one ver a few 30 shot games is one goal per game - that can happen any number of ways. Obviously consistency is a big deal there - but so is chance, defence, opposition, etc.
