The Stanley Cup playoffs are gruelling. The first two rounds are fantastic, but by the third round the quality of play gets dragged down by fatigue. By the finals the players are exhausted and fans have viewing fatigue from watching hockey every second night for almost two months. Made worse this year by killing what momentum the playoffs had from the conference finals with flabby scheduling of the finals.
