The federal deficit was not 29 billion when Trudeau assumed office. People can argue the fine details but the last Conservative budget was essentially balanced. Trudeau promised a 10 billion deficit for 3 years then a return to balance, that went right out the window and spending was out of control long before anyone heard of Covid.
