You hope this organization learns from the end of the Iginla saga and the miniscule returns we got for him, Regehr, Bouwmeester, Phaneuf - and you try to re-stock the cupboards for the new core.

And realistically, I don't see any player on this team (short of young players who may yet bloom) as core players on a contending Flames team in the future.

I think this team will try to make a hockey trade with the expiring contracts. It may work for this upcoming season (we're due for some good luck) but I think it just kicks the can down the road.
