Head coaching has a mysterious nature to it.
even the brightest hockey minds with a strong understanding of what a team needs to do on the ice can struggle to rally a group of guys to go and execute it and bring a consistently high level of effort.
You have to be a mix of stern dad, one of the guys, mastermind, and sometimes even a bit of an ### kicker.
The best ones aren't always the smartest.
Here's hoping this new trend of smart young coaches with softer personalities than traditional coaches takes hold here too.
I really like the person and the mind, I just hope it translates to the games.
There are a lot of seasoned vets who dragged their feet at times last year. Hopefully Darryl being gone alone jump starts those same guys and they come out with a renewed enthusiasm.
