I thought Huberdeau was pulling pretty hard for the last 10 games or so of the season, but he didn't do it consistently all season long. When people say that Huberdeau failed to produce at an acceptable level despite giving it his best, I really didn't see that at all. I saw a player that was used to having line mates in Florida that would do the grunt work for him, and that when it was expected from him, he wasn't able to carry it out. To me, that isn't captain material. You want your captain being the guy that will do anything on the ice to help.

Like I said, he looked like he was starting to get it really late in the season, but it was too little too late.
