Save percentage is often a team stat to a large degree. Like plus/minus for skaters, you have to compare it to others on the same team for it to mean much.

If Markstrom had a good save percentage, and Vladar was still below 0.900, then it would seem like he was putting in poor performances, but the fact both goalies had similar underlying stats suggests to me that there was something else going on with how the team was playing in front of the goalies.

I am sure other GMs and pro scouts are going to rely on eye tests and deeper analytics to judge him and not just simple stats. Just my opinion, but I thought he looked pretty good most of the time, for a goalie his age and with limited experience. I would not be surprised at all if he has another level in him still. Even Dominik Hasek didn't post a season with a better save percentage than 0.900 until he was 28/29 years old. It's often the case with goalies that they don't peak until their late 20s. Not saying that Vladar is the next Hasek, but in a lot of ways, I still see him as a prospect.

Having said that, the trade market for unproven goalies is not great. Reto Berra went for a 2nd rounder years ago, so that might be the high water mark for a return. Personally, I'd rather keep him and trade Markstrom at this point, but that likely isn't a choice.
