Losing Gio, Gaudreau and Brodie for nothing set this team back 5 years, and trading Tkachuk for a what they did and extending Huberdeau and Weegar instead of selling them could’ve set them back another 5.
They can’t keep making this mistake, and mercifully, Conroy seems to be aware of this.

Again when people include Gio in this list it is kinda dumb.
EVERY team lost someone in the expansion draft. If they had traded Gio they would have lost someone like Kylington.
