Any tips? Particular brands?

For the first time makes it a little tricky.

Be mindful of buying a BBQ that meets but does not exceed your needs.

A few years ago I bought a Weber Spirit II e210. I put extra money into a Weber, but the trade off was to have a 2 burner unit, when I could have had a 5 unit burner BBQ from Walmart if I desired.

However, I found 3 burners was too big, I only ever used the space for 2, and the Walmart Special never seemed to last (mind you I live on the Atlantic Ocean, I doubt salt in the air eating your BBQ is a concern in Calgary).

My advice isn't for a specific unit, my advice is to take a step back and see what size you need, then buy a quality unit that meets that need.
