Just catching up on this thread now and I’ve got to say I’m pretty surprised by all of the negativity in here.
Firstly, we as fans have such little insight into evaluating a coach. We can look at past records, players developed, interviews, etc but most of us have zero clue what happens behind closed doors.
A lot of folks here seem upset that they are going with Huska over Love, but they have followed very similar paths, just Huska has more experience. Love has never served in the NHL in any capacity.
Our defensive play and PK have been pretty great under Huska considering our goaltending as previously pointed out. If he can keep that going while giving our top players more ice time then I think we’ll all be happy. Conroy mentioned coach and GM being on the same page so that’s a good sign.
Huska has a history of earning the respect of young players. Everything I’ve heard seems really positive from the players. Given all of the dramatics about the exit interviews, I think it’s a given the players didn’t have anything negative to say about him.
Anyway, I just don’t understand the anger coming from so many. No guarantee Huska will be great, but I think there is plenty of upside here.
