The GM of the team clearly talked about the type of style he wants the team to play - structure defensively, creative with the puck offensively. Why would he hire someone who won't coach that style?

I mean defensive structure, I think every coach who has coached hockey preaches that.
Offensive creativity, well I guess that’s in the eye of the beholder a little bit. People complain that the Flames didn’t practice 3 on 3 or the PP enough, isn’t that preaching creativity?
I guess I don’t really know what offensive creativity means. Does it mean no forechecking structure and support? There’s lots of players on this team who don’t have a ton of offensive talent so what does creativity mean for them? Does creativity mean Kadri gets to keep playing his selfish brand of hockey?
