It should be unpopular because you're wrong. Iginla is a first ballot Hall of Famer that won 2 Olympic Gold, World Cup Gold, and World Junior Gold. He was also the conn Smythe favorite heading into game 7 of the Cup finals.
Tanguay won a Stanley Cup with the Avs, scoring two goals in game 7 and 21 playoff points as a sophomore.
Conroy didn't win much but he has put in the years to learn to be a manager.
Really, I only think Iginla is similar to the Oilers nostalgia-laden hiring and who knows if he'll even be part of it.
