If you look into it, it's amazing how far Quebec has fallen in hockey.

Ontario: 191 players
Quebec: 66 players
Alberta: 56 players
BC: 50 players
Saskatchewan: 26 players
Manitoba: 26 players
Nova Scotia: 10 players

Alberta + Saskatchewan + Manitoba = 108 players
Combined population of Prairie provinces = 7 million

Quebec = 66 players
Population of Quebec = 8.5 million

So the prairie provinces have over 15 NHLers per million people.
Quebec only has 7.7 NHLers per million people.

It would be interesting to see the combined might of the four western provinces against Ontario. That would be pretty close.
