I think Debrincat was a poor choice and an unnecessary luxury for them.
It was known he was asking for big money, more than Chicago was comfortable giving him. Ottawa's had discussions about a long term deal, and they weren't comfortable with the numbers he wanted.
I think he was always an unlikely extend.
