Vladar "failed miserably" despite having just two regulation losses in his last 18 starts to the season?
At the end of the day the goaltenders job is to give his team a chance every night. Vladar did just that, while Markstrom didn't. Their respective records speak to that. Vladar was making stops when his team needed him to at critical junctures of the game and just looking purely at one stat (SV%) doesn't highlight that. The splits speak for themselves.
The handling of the goaltending this past season was nothing short of embarrassing by Sutter and just further highlighted his stubbornness as a coach.
