Vladar finished 14-6-5. Markstrom finished only 23-21-12. Pretty huge difference there, really.
Vladar also had the better save percentage and GAA. The only think Markstrom beat Vladar in was goals saved above expected per 60 minutes (which albeit is probably the most important goalie stat).
Still, an argument could be made that Vladar really should have taken over the starter's spot based on the performance of both goalies.
