When they asked Conroy about this, he mentioned that he knows a lot of people, through organizations across the NHL. Some that he may not know well, he has played against, so they have a starting point for a conversation. He says he knows at least someone in pretty much every organization. The guy has been in the NHL as a player and an AGM for decades. Plus he mentioned that his phone blew up with messages from many GMs across the league. He is a good communicator, and business is business.
