If it is bothering more than before I would visit with your Optometrist again. They can send a follow-up letter that states that it is progressing and that can often bump up the surgery date. You can also request a second opinion and see a different specialist to see if you can get it done quicker.
It could also simply be that it doesn't yet meet the criteria for surgery under Alberta Health Care.
I find communication lacking in a lot of the Ophthalmology clinics. They often do not clearly give you an update of where you are in the process. You go into the office, spend 4 hours doing testing, see the Surgeon for 2 mins and then are handed back to a nurse (who often has varying levels of information to give to the patient).
