My predictions... Will win the vast majority of his trades (watch out, Connie, Tre likes to get former players!), will be more successful at the stuff he was bad at in Calgary because Toronto is a much more desired location to be in and he'll have options (players and coaches) that he never had in Calgary, will bring Toronto at least one Stanley Cup
Treliving was good at making splashy trades in the off season, but terrible at making trades at any other time. His trades rarely moved the needle and made significant improvements to the team. He had a propensity to throw away picks at the deadline for depth players that never amounted to anything or moved the needle. The biggest problem with Treliving's dealings was his inability to swing a deal that amounted to a difference maker.

Treliving was not good at managing the overall organization. It appeared he never had a concrete plan and would change directions willy nilly. He bleed picks and didn't manage the cap well. I agree he built good relationships, but those relationships got in the way of him making the hard decision. Too many times players made decisions for him. The decisions that mattered the most he always seems to make mistakes. He won't be missed.

My prediction for him in Toronto is going to be a performance similar to that in Calgary. He'll make deals that people will get excited about, but in the long run they won't amount to anything because they don't really make a difference. He'll blow draft capital and bleed assets which will slowly erode the team from the inside out. He won't pick the right coach for the team and they won't get over the hump. His teams will be up and down but never achieve anything. His only saving grace is the deep pockets of the ownership so he might be able to spend his way out of mistakes. His biggest problem will be the media and the fan pressure. Treliving was a middling performer in Calgary and will be even more middling in the Center of the Universe with the immense pressure that comes with that job.
