I like the guy as a person and for his work ethic, but let's not pretend that he isn't partly responsible for the mess we have on our hands now. He's a good hire for the Leafs, but it's not like he wasn't a year or two past his expiry date in Calgary. If he hasn't learned from some of his mistakes on the coaching hire front and poor UFA management/tactics, this isn't going to end well in Toronto either.
Even Conroy alluded to the fact BT operates with some very dated philosophies and was a big fan of veteran lineups. This is not something that changes overnight and is a huge problem in today's NHL.

BT wasn't perfect but he was also clearly held back by geography.
Like I said, not surprised in the least that he was instantly hired by another org, and one of the premier orgs in the league with much better resources, facilities also a much more attractive destination for players and coaches.
