Not that the UCP ads were any better...maybe even worse. I didn't particularly find any of the party's messaging particularly inspiring. But hey, I'm no political strategist.

I can agree with this.
The NDP demonized Smith and then during the leadership debate she was so comfortable lying and a good speaker from her talk radio days. The leadership debate and focus on Smith were 2 big errors by the NDP. Like I guess there's also the blame and responsibility Smith will never own for being a psychotic-level liar, but you have beat the opposition who's presented to you.
