I agree that would be a better fit but then there would just be centrist and left vote splitting which you couldn’t win while doing. We are in a two party system now so other than the Federal liberals post Trudeau I don’t see other options if he wants to get back into politics.

I disagree, the Liberals were the official opposition and the NDP had 4 seats and were a rump party until they weren't. The non UCP vote will migrate to the strongest party or strongest leader. The NDP are strong today (like the Taft/Decore Liberals) but could be decimated next time if a star candidate emerges.
