Think outside the box.
It seems to me that when a person uses that cliche, he is doing the exact opposite of what he is proposing. He is, ahem, thinking inside the box.
And a hockey-centric one that I've never understood goes something like this:
We need more out of our offensive players; your Jarome Iginlas, your Kristian Huseliuss, your Daymond Langkows.
Why not "We need more out of our offensive players: Jarome Iginla, Kristian Huselius and Daymond Langkow"?
