I have no doubt Treliving will get another shot at managing an NHL team.

The reality is that it's not just the Flames as all Canadian teams are struggling when it comes to trying to build real cup contending teams. Every once in a while a team breaks out on a cinderella run but the Leafs are probably the closest to an elite Canadian team over the last decade and they can't get over the hump and now have to deal with their star US born player who could easily walk.
I was long in the anti-Treliving camp as IMO the wheels fell off when he made that ill fated trade for Hamonic that set the organization back and the bad moves and miscalculations (bridge deal to Tkachuk) started outweighing the good moves. That said he's gone now so I just don't understand being upset today knowing that he's gone and the Flames have a new GM that has acknowledged past failed moves will hopefully make less mistakes. Of all times of the year this is the time to be optimistic that better things may come with the draft oncoming and a chance to make a few deals and reshape the roster and prospect base. I'm probably closer to a glass half empty guy than glass half full but even I recognize that going on and on about Treliving and Tkachuk isn't really serving much of a purpose outside of wallowing in misery by choice.
