BMW has woefully lost their way. I am still of the opinion that the E46 and E39 (3-Series and 5-Series, respectively) were peak BMW... their slogan was still 'The Ultimate Driving Machine' and you knew they meant business when you got behind the wheel of one.

Agreed... BMW peaked about 20 years ago. In addition to the E46 & E39, the Fisker-designed Z8 is a future classic and something that seems unfathomable for the BMW of today to produce. The Bengle-era was the beginning of the end and they've never really recovered since (but at least they used that magical V10 in the M5 & 6!).
There have been very few models since that I would consider to be compelling in their segment.
