If look at month-to-month, you'd see Calgary spiked in October but then stayed at pretty much the same levels (trending down) throughout the rest of the season. Florida, on the other hand, was a much better team for most of the season, but spiked downward significantly during the injuries I mentioned above.

Florida: 23 Points
Flames: 21 Points
2nd Quarter 20 Games:
Florida: 17 Points
Flames: 25 Points
3rd quarter 20 Games:
Florida: 24 Points
Flames: 21 Points
Final 21 Games:
Florida: 28 points
Flames: 26 points
In the last 20 games of the seasons heading into the Playoffs both teams had 26 points. Really when you look at how "hot" they were coming into the playoffs they were playing at the same pace.
