Are they really unpredictable when it comes to winning the cup? I just looked at the list of Stanley Cup winners for the last decade plus and you really have to go to 2006 for a total outlier winner in the Hurricanes and maybe the first Kings cup win. The Blues went on a tear after Berube took over and were the best 2nd half team in the league that season so not really a surprise the went on to win the cup. It really looks to me if the goal is to win a Stanley Cup you need to build an elite team as maybe the Panthers will win the cup this year but it won't be repeatable and I would expect the Avs (Stanley Cup hangover) and Lightning (playoff fatigue) to be back next season.
