In addition to FlamesAddiction's post... between the first game after the all-star break and the end of the regular season, Florida finished with the 6th most 5v5 goals scored and the 4th least 5v5 goals alowed in the entire league.

During that time, their .633 points percentage was good enough for 11th in the entire NHL, higher than 5 other playoff teams (Carolina, Tampa, NYI, Seattle and Winnipeg). Calgary's points percentage (we finished 1 point higher than them, don't forget) during that same time was only .563.

They were 3rd overall in GF/GP (all situations), behind only Edmonton and Colorado. Their GA/GP (all situations) however was 15th overall, indicating they were among the best in the NHL offensively while average on the defensive/goaltending side (I don't know what their team SV% was during that timeframe, nor any of the adv stats, as I'm just looking at surface stuff right now).

Why did they only make the playoffs by one point when they were clearly in the top third of teams in the NHL post all-star break? I'm glad you didn't ask! It's because they got hit with injuries in November and December when they posted only a .464 and a .429 points percentage, respectively. (They put up .611 in October and .600 in January, if anyone's interested in the other months.)

Needless to say, this whole "they're a bad team who only got 92 points" narrative is nothing but horsepoop. It doesn't take a lot of effort to look beyond just sorting the points column at the end of the season... if you actually want to know what you're talking about, that is.
