The commentary is just meant to say it's not only about making the playoffs. You have to have a team that can play playoff hockey once you get there.
People alluding to "that could have been Calgary" are missing the fact that we don't have anyone on this team that's even close to resembling Tkachuk, Verhaeghe, Barkov, Bennett, Montour, Eckblad or this version of Bobrovsky.
