The team has had an issue with RISP for what feels like forever. The issue seems worse because the team is actually quite good at getting players on base. Even now, in the struggles they're having they're getting players there and just unable to finish. Bad teams don't get on base the way the Jays are getting on base. The big issue is that an extended stretch like this (say another week or two of bad play/luck) in this division means they could end up a 85-90 win team on the outside looking in.
The bullpen is the same massive sore spot that it has been for three seasons now. So many unreliable arms in there. Even the arms that were lights out last season are prone to unreliable innings at bad times this season. Relievers are, for the most part, voodoo but there is something funky going on with the Jays being unable to develop, sign, or trade for relievers who find their groove here and keep it. We seem to get a year at most and then they fall back to Earth.
