This one always struck me a little bit as partially a workplace accident based on the cop making a tragic mistake with how he conducted the traffic stop instead of just stepping back from the vehicle. I know this is an unpopular take, but the cop really did make a grave error here that cost him his life as there is no way in hell clinging to the side of a fleeing vehicle is police procedure.

Yeah this is just one of the passengers
The defense claimed that sgt harnett was holding on to his steering wheel and punching the driver in the head, but the body camera footage showed that that was only after he had already floored it. It's likely he got caught on something else somehow, but really, we don't know.
