While the Calgary GM job may not be the most desirable in the NHL, it is still 1 of only 32, has ownership willing to spend to the cap and have just experienced one of the most tumultuous 12 months a franchise could withstand. I think a new GM will look pretty good just with a dead cat bounce.
For comparison’s sake, why is Pittsburgh that much better? Sid is obviously a factor, but that is also an aging roster, with goalie issues, lack of a young talent pipeline and are likely stuck in the 10-16 position ( in a tougher conference). I don’t hear much about them having a hard time attracting GM interest.
