The criminal justice system... I repeat JUSTICE not vengeance system, is about rehabilitation and treating everyone fairly.

This is why indigenous offenders get the benefit of a Gladue Report.

Here in Nova Scotia there's a relatively recent decision in R v Anderson that will likely lead to the same type of report for Afician Canadian offenders and minorities.

But what about victims of crime?

That's where Victims Services comes into play. Here in Nova Scotia it's an integral part of the criminal justice system which I believe was one of the outcomes of thr 1992 McDonalds Murders has families had no where to turn to learn about the system and have their voices heard.

What is sorely lacking is mental health services. The amount of people that reoffend because they have no support is staggering. You'd be floored by the amount of good people, who without medication or support reoffend. Ironically, we lock up people who aren't dangerous because they are medicated and supported in prison. Then once release they become anti-social.
