I think it would be pretty dumb for Dubas to take a year off. He is a hot commodity right now and can get a big contract. Say he takes a year off and whoever the new Leafs GM is somehow gets the team to go on a deep run. All of a sudden he loses a lot of his shine in a lot of organisations eyes I bet. It's too risky for him.
As a Leaf fan I'm actually not that upset with the Leafs moving on from him. He built a great regular season team but for whatever reason couldn't get the team to go on a deep run. I also think if you bring in Dubas be prepared to have Keefe as your new head coach for better or worse.
