It already started in 2021. It probably existed before that but 2021 was a majority catalyst for cancelling Canada Day. I don't recall do active the movement was last year but I'm sure they had various rallies/marches/protests leading up to the holiday. There was a protest in Parliament Hill in 2021 calling for the cancellation of Canada Day.
