He couldn't have necessarily known he'd be going to Florida specifically at the time. He bet on himself though and accepted the bridge deal that was offered. The Flames gave him that temptation to go to free agency early and after his 104 point season, he knew that he held all the cards. I can't really blame him either. The team didn't seem to believe in him a few years ago when the option to sign him long term was there, neither did a lot of the fanbase it seems. Hard to blame him for taking the route he did, but the Flames badly mishandled him.
