This sounds smart but is really just nonsense, right?

Hockey is one of the least predictable sports there is. It’s also full of “outliers” that help form the basis of everything. Outliers become norms very, very quickly.

It’s pretty hard to even call Bob an outlier in any sense. He’s not close to the first who has done what he’s doing. Countless guys bounce back after a rough patch later in their years. Even more do it after one bad season.

I’m not sure what premise you think anyone is trying to prove with an “outlier,” but I’m also not even sure you can accurately identify an outlier. As was said, hockey is a weird game. It lends itself to a lot of vague generalities and then lives to prove them wrong.
